Today I am pleased to announce an online Master of Computer Science degree* from Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP), the #1 university in Peru and one of the top 15 universities in Latin America. This is the first degree from a Peruvian university on Coursera.
There is an urgent need for technical experts in Latin America. In 2022, 67% of Peruvian employers had difficulty finding technical and IT talent. According to IDC, this talent shortage is projected to grow as nearly 2.5 million roles requiring technical skills emerge in Latin America by 2026.
The new PUCP degree will help Spanish speakers develop the expertise and skills to start or advance their software careers. Graduates will be prepared for a range of technical and IT roles, including machine learning engineer, data scientist and computer systems analyst.
In the program, students will build advanced artificial intelligence and data science skills while focusing on software development and user-centered design. Students can watch all courses on demand and interact with leading faculty members in live sessions held every two weeks.

This inclusive degree is designed for students from diverse backgrounds, regardless of the focus of their undergraduate degree. Instead, this program welcomes those with a working knowledge of programming, ideally 3-5 years of experience and a passion for solving real-world problems using AI, machine learning and data science.
